IMPLANTS TO RESTORE MISSING TEETH
Dental implants are the most modern hi-tech way to replace missing teeth. A Titanium screw called a fixture is placed in the jaw where the root of the lost tooth used to be. After a period of healing, a special type of crown is fabricated, which is then screwed or cemented onto the fixture. This means the implant tooth is stand-alone, like a natural tooth, and does not require the support of, or attaching to adjacent teeth. Should the crown become damaged, it can be unscrewed from the fixture and replaced. A small number of fixtures can also be used to support bridges and even dentures.
THE MOST NATURAL LOOKING TOOTH REPLACEMENT
Carefully planned and placed implant retained crowns can mimic natural teeth extremely closely, making them the best looking and most natural replacement for missing teeth.
Multiple missing teeth can be replaced with implant retained bridges, and loose dentures can be stabilized with implant fixtures.
IMPLANT PLANNING AND PLACEMENT
Planning for implants is complex and we work in conjunction with specialist Oral Surgeons and Periodontists who will place the fixture, sometimes removing an unrestorable tooth to do so. They will monitor the healing progress and inform us when the fixture is ready for the crown or bridge to be placed. The timeframe for this is generally 3-4 months but occasionally a little longer. Sometimes it is possible to provide the crown almost immediately after the fixture has been placed, although circumstances have to be very favourable for this to be reliable.
